SS Thistlegorm

One of the world’s most legendary wreck dives, the SS Thistlegorm is a British WWII cargo ship that sank in 1941 after being bombed. Today, she lies at 30 meters, offering a time capsule of military history: motorcycles, trucks, rifles, tanks, and even steam locomotives lie preserved in her hull. Surrounded by glassfish, lionfish, and the occasional giant trevally, this dive is not just about wrecks — it’s about stepping into history.

Abu Nuhas Wrecks

Nicknamed the “Wreck Graveyard” for a reason, Abu Nuhas is home to four fascinating sunken cargo ships:

• Giannis D – A photogenic wreck with a tilted engine room and thriving fish life.

• Carnatic – A 19th-century vessel with skeletal remains now draped in soft coral.

• Chrisoula K – The “Tile Wreck” still has its cargo of ceramic tiles visible.

• Kimon M – Known as the “Lentil Wreck,” with deep access and vibrant reef fish. These wrecks attract nudibranchs, morays, and anthias, making it an underwater museum with life bursting at every turn.

 Sha’ab El Erg (Dolphin Reef)

A wide, shallow horseshoe-shaped reef often graced by spinner dolphins, Sha’ab El Erg is a relaxed dive site with colorful coral gardens, hard coral bommies, and excellent visibility. A favorite for check dives, snorkeling, and dolphin spotting, this site is pure Red Sea serenity.

Panorama Reef (Safaga)

As one of the largest reefs in the Safaga area, Panorama lives up to its name with dramatic walls, north and south plateaus, and an explosion of marine life. Divers can expect huge gorgonian fans, schools of snapper, moray eels, Napoleon wrasse, and even reef sharks gliding past. The southern edge is ideal for long, smooth drifts with changing light and vibrant topography.

Abu Kafan Reef

Long, narrow, and stunningly steep, Abu Kafan is often called the “Little Brother of Elphinstone.” With deep drop-offs, overhangs, and shelving plateaus, it’s a dive of contrasts — home to hunting trevallies, pelagic tuna, barracuda schools, and soft corals that sway in the currents. Expect thrilling dives with occasional surprises like grey reef sharks.

Middle Reef & Tobia Arbaa

These sites are beloved for their peaceful ambiance and macro-friendly environments. Middle Reef offers a lush coral garden with anemones, clownfish, and parrotfish, perfect for slow, scenic dives. Tobia Arbaa, also known as the “Seven Pinnacles,” features towering coral heads and sheltered sand patches, often frequented by lionfish, stonefish, and nudibranchs. A dream setting for relaxed exploration and underwater photography.
